Suzuki Kizashi
Maruti Suzuki Kizashi is the latest attempt by Suzuki to launch itself into the sedan segment. The company is aiming at maintaining its sporty image owing to its motorcycles that command a good market share.
Maruti Suzuki Kizashi means “coming up of something great” which is in line with the company’s aspirations.
The sedan is a product of in-house engineering and designing by Suzuki.
The Kizashi has got the right amounts of aggression and sportiness built into it. It has some strong features, like a pronounced waistline, nicely fitting 215/55 R17 rubber and twin exhausts with
stainless steel covers.
It also comes with these good-looking alloy wheels that look best when it’s on the move.
The bootlid with the inbuilt spoiler is a bit in-your-face, but if millions of Indians could get used to the Dzire’s boot, then this is nothing.
In terms of dimensions, the Kizashi is longer and wider than the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic, but its wheelbase is closer to the Civic’s than the Corolla’s. So in terms of positioning, it fits
between the Civic/Corolla and the Accord/Camry.
PERFORMANCE
The motor in the Kizashi is the same one from the Grand Vitara, only here it makes more power. The 16-valve VVT DOHC inline-four displaces 2393cc to develop 176 bhp at 6000 rpm and 23 kgm of torque at 4000 rpm.
The engine is brilliant in the way it propels the car forward.
It is reasonably quiet in the low rpm levels but once the tacho needle progresses ahead, the engine sounds terrific.
Mated to a nicely spaced six-speed manual (a CVT option is also available), the Kizashi is an exuberant car on the highways.
There is no lag in power delivery and the easy access to torque translates to a car that’s brilliant to drive. It attained 190 kph without much fuss. The powertrain makes it a great car to pilot.
Suzuki Kizashi Price : In the United States Suzuki Kizashi is selling for $19,000 to $24,700 which is approximately Rs 8.5 lakhs to 11 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki Kizashi Price in India : Price not disclosed yet but expected to be in the range of 12-15 lakhs.
